“Causal insights”: adaptive explanations for interpretable probabilistic models.

This project is part of the Hybrid Intelligence Centre, a Dutch research consortium on AI systems that work together with people rather than replace them. Within the centre, project 3.23, “Causal insights”: adaptive explanations for interpretable probabilistic models, develops causality-aware explanations for probabilistic graphical models. A particular focus is on how violations of modelling assumptions affect causal discovery, causal inference, and the explanations derived from these models.

The project is carried out by PhD candidate Debargha Ghosh (Intelligent Systems, Utrecht University), supervised by Dr. Silja Renooij (Utrecht University) and Dr. Anna V. Kononova (Leiden University).
